History

2004

Jeff Woods founded Realize Information Technology to fill a need in his representative/project management market.

Large companies and foundations had discovered they could significantly reduce project costs by using representatives and/or project managers.

This was an unmet need. Many representative/project managers lacked experience and knowledge in the Information Technology field. Jeff had extensive technology experience including building a 5,000-user network handling voice, data and video. This work was part of the early development of the Internet.

2009

In response to high demand in the technology sector, Jeff changed RIT’s mission to become a leader among managed services providers in Tulsa, Okla. Jeff maintained his philosophy of being an owner’s representative and putting the needs and best interests of the client at the center of Realize’s business model.

Realize’s business model positions our team to be a strategic business partner with the client; not just a vendor. Every aspect of our business model is focused on helping the client achieve the level of technology they want. That includes the best possible price, and it includes insuring reliability by using expert design work. RIT’s installation uses industry best practices and preventive maintenance.

Now

Realize continues to adapt to the ever-changing I.T. landscape by constantly evaluating and adopting state-of-the-art management software. This includes frequent cyber-security audits and maintaining the industry’s best cyber-security practices to protect our clients and their businesses.

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, Realize has responded to new client needs by rolling out secure “Work from Home” systems. This supports a location-diverse workforce. It also continues to protect our clients.

Realize is committed to protecting clients and their businesses no matter how technology or the world changes.

  • 53% say an increase in data to manage/analyze has made their operations more complex.
  • 41% of businesses surveyed cited ongoing maintenance costs as the reason for low ROI.

Focus on security

If you follow trends in digital technology in business, you’ll probably notice a lot of talk about security. There is a reason for that. Although decades have passed since the introduction of computers, there is still a bit of Wild West going on.

Society’s criminal element is looking for weakness. Computer networks are less risky than physically entering a business by the front door and trying to steal something. And—to be brutally honest—some players in the tech sector have responded slowly. Between the gee-whiz aspects of new technology and the rush to make money, some industry leaders have neglected security preparation.

Societal crisis

Whether it’s COVID-19 or another large disruption, we must acknowledge such things happen. Our clients are dealing with the day-to-day of the pandemic. As are we. Businesses in the United States are being forced to take drastic measures to stop a spreading virus. Most of those measures are not compatible with keeping a business open, especially if your customers need to walk in and out the doors.

Some companies have been able to re-position their team to work from home. Fortunately, remote-work tools were already available. Also, cloud computing is reasonably stable right now even as the need has exploded.

Realize I.T. has responded by helping clients implement infrastructure changes. We have also blogged about this. Here a several bullet points:

  • Set boundaries and allot time. People working from home for the first time need to avoid distractions. They also may struggle to keep their spirits up with reduced social interaction.
  • Build lines of communication. Telephone numbers and email addresses are crucial. Make sure your master list is updated.
  • Be flexible. If one coping method does not work, just move on to something else. Don’t dwell on each frustration. Look for everything that succeeds, regardless of how small.
  • Move around. Stand up, walk around, and stretch. This is even more important when you are temporarily in an unfamiliar and unexpected work pattern.
  • Pandemic etiquette. There will probably be a need to physically drop things off or pick them up. Distribute etiquette tips to your staff that allow people to be friendly without touching or standing too close. Try using your sense of humor more often.
